PEACH PIT CONCERT POSTER
The objective of this project was to create an 18" x 24" poster for a band performing at First Avenue Concert Hall, with two openers featured as well.
I chose to explore the idea of an old, folded up photo that someone might find in a jacket they haven't worn in a while, or tucked away in a wallet. This nostalgic tone parallels the folk-like sound the band used in their album From 2 to 3, which was released shortly before the creation of this poster.
STATE BIRD POSTAGE STAMPS
For this collection of stamps, I wanted to challenge myself by creating a variety of bird illustrations with a limited color palette.
I wanted the birds to be mirrored, similar to a face card within a deck of playing cards so that it could be viewed from any angle and still be recognizable.
CHARCOAL STILL LIFE
Using charcoal and white chalk, create a high-contrast still life drawing, including an arrangement of random objects set up in a classroom.
With this large scale drawing, I was looking for the viewer's eye to be drawn to the skull immediately, so I chose to use an altered triangle composition, with the chair being an outlying element. I decided to completely black out the background, creating higher contrast and greater focus on the elements in the foreground.
Pastel Figure Drawing
For this large scale sketch, the class worked with nude models to establish interesting poses and compositions for gesture figure drawings.
Value and color exploration were my main goals for this drawing, and I was looking to focus on how the values of the hues provided could be used to shade, rather than the accuracy of the colors. I surrounded the model with a turquoise aura to establish an interesting background while maintaining the focus on the figure.
